Celebrating New Homes Week: Building Tomorrow’s Rural Communities

As we mark the start of New Homes Week 2025, English Rural is proud to join the nationwide celebration of the benefits and opportunities that building new homes brings to our communities.

This year’s theme, “Community,” aligns perfectly with our mission to enhance rural living through the provision of affordable, high-quality homes that foster strong, connected communities.

At English Rural, our commitment goes beyond constructing houses; we are dedicated to creating environments where individuals and families can thrive. New Homes Week provides an excellent platform to highlight how our initiatives contribute to the broader goals of this campaign.

One of our most recent efforts in this area has been to contribute to the development of the “Design Guide: Building Tomorrow’s Rural Communities“. This comprehensive guide, which includes a foreword by our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, offers a detailed framework for developing aesthetically harmonious affordable housing in rural areas. It emphasises the importance of designing homes that respect the unique character of the countryside while addressing the diverse needs of residents.

New build homes offer numerous advantages, including energy efficiency, low maintenance, and warranties that provide homeowners peace of mind. These homes are designed to foster a strong sense of community, with local parks, schools, and open spaces often just a short walk away.

This New Homes Week we invite parish councils and landowners to come forward if their village has a need for affordable rural homes. Your collaboration is crucial in identifying areas where new housing can make a significant impact. Together, we can build a brighter, more connected future for our rural communities.
