It is with great sadness that we share news of the death of our former Chair, Mark Tillson. Mark passed away in December 2020 following a short illness.
Mark’s association with English Rural spans 18 years, having initially been involved in the early years of our formation and then re-joining the Board more latterly. He served as Chair between 2014-20.
Mark’s generosity of spirit has extended to his Board and staff colleagues alike. He has been an inspirational contributor and leader of our cause. Mark’s determination and commitment has enabled English Rural to progress by improving the life-chances of those we help. Importantly, Mark has strived in his ambitions for the Association to build more affordable homes and to help more households in need of a safe home. Through this work, his legacy lives on.
During the many years that Mark gave to supporting English Rural, his dedication did not waiver. He gave his time freely and selflessly, whilst at the same time balancing a busy professional career and supporting his close family. His kindness and generosity during his service with English Rural was infectious, always bringing out the best in others. He will be missed by all those who had the benefit of knowing and working with him.
